Death Valley Days My latest trip, to recover from the travails of the Consumer Electronics Show, I went to Death Valley. Also, because I need material for a workshop I am taking. Not only did I witness some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen (the result of the seismic history of our state) and work on my photographic skills, I was able to drive fabulous roads at well over the speed limit (just kidding CHP). This slide show contains images from the trip, these have not yet been through my digital workflow. The two songs used came up on satellite radio at critical moments during my trip. (Just click and download or play from the net the executable file, it came out much better than the flash version I tried first) This link will take you to a gallery with what I think are the best images from the trip. Enjoy The sand dunes outside of Stovepipe Wells Village at sunset A view of Badwater at sunrise, as a storm rolled through. This is lowest point in North America, named because of a surveyor's donkey would not drink the salty water. This was taken from Dante's View, the peak of a 5,000 + foot mountain, where the wind was gusting above 40 mph (at least that is what it felt to me, it was rocking the car, thought I needed a safety line while I was at the edge of the peak) Last stop in the park, the Devil's Golf Course. Here is a map of the park - I ranged from Stovepipe Wells down to Badwater for the most part. The trip to Dante's view took me out of the valley and around the backside of the Black Mountains, a part of the Amargosa Range. I stayed at the Furnace Creek Inn. |
